Seventeen fencers contested the inaugural MPAI
New Year Epee Cup. The overall winner was Arthur Lanigan-O'Keeffe who beat
Ido Ajzenstadt 15 - 12 in the final of the competition. Arthur led the rankings after the two pouling rounds with Ido the
second ranked athlete and Richard Adams in third. While the usual direct elimination format was used for the winners of bouts,
losing athletes had to continue to fight for every position. This meant a full day fencing was had by all.
