Selection Criteria

Event Criteria
Five Nations Strongest available team . Selectors will use Ranking System as a guide for selection, but not necessarily exclusively.
Quad Match This team to be selected with a view to giving experience to potential future Five Nations team members
Cadet European Championships 1 top-64 in European Cadet Circuit Competition
Cadet World Championships 2 top-64's in European Cadet Circuit Competitions and/or top-64 European Cadet Championships
Junior Grade A 2 top-64's in Junior Grade B or equivalent in UK and/or Europe
Junior World Championships Two top-64's in Junior Grade A
Junior European Championships 1 top-64 Junior Grade B and 1 top 64 Junior Grade A
Senior Grade A 1 x top-16 Satellite together with good results from strong UK or Continental European /Grade B equivalent competitions
Senior European Championships 1 x top-8 FIE Satellite and 1 x top-64 Senior Grade A
Senior World Championships 2 Top 64 Senior Grade A
World Student Games 2 top 64 Senior Grade A

Procedure for selection for international competition:

At beginning of season, fencer who wishes to be considered for selection should draw up a plan of training, and competitions in which he/she intends to compete, and communicate this to the Selectors for their information. (To be sent by email to N McGarrity, contact details above). Weapon mentors (and Selectors) are available to advise.
