Welcome to the website of the Irish Fencing Federation, the governing body of the sport of fencing in Ireland.

Irish Olympian Siobhan Byrne in action at the 2008 Beijing Olympics
Fencing can be traced back to the earliest times, and has been included in the Olympic games since their modern day inception in 1896. The sport came to Ireland ten years later in 1906 when the Irish Fencing club was founded in Dublin. In 1936 the Irish Amateur Fencing Federation (IAFF) was set up as the governing body of the sport. In January 2008 the IAFF changed its name to the Irish Fencing Federation (IFF). The IFF is affiliated to the Federation Internationale d'Escrime (FIE), the European Fencing Confederation (EFC), the European Veterans Fencing Committee (EVFC) and the Olympic Council of Ireland, and is recognised by the Irish Sports Council.
